“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

Matthew 6:9-13

Thy Kingdom Come...

What does it mean when we pray “Thy Kingdom come?”

When we pray “Thy kingdom come,” as part of the Lord’s Prayer, we are expressing a deep desire for God’s reign or rule to be established fully on earth. It reflects both a present and future hope.

Presently: It means asking for God’s will, values, and purposes to be realized in the world right now. This includes justice, peace, love, and mercy being evident in human relationships, society, and individual lives. The prayer is for God’s kingdom to grow in influence through the lives of believers who act according to His Word.

Future: It also points to the future, when Christians believe that God’s kingdom will be fully and perfectly realized at the second coming of Christ. This is when God’s rule will be complete, bringing an end to sin, suffering, and death.

Overall, praying “Thy kingdom come” is a request for God’s rule and values to transform the world, both now and in the future, and a commitment to aligning one’s own life with God’s will.

What to Expect

We invite you to join us for a deeply formative time of prayer, where we will align our hearts, lives, and future with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. This time will be dedicated to seeking God’s Kingdom, not the kingdoms of men. Expect a powerful blend of teaching, worship, instructed prayer, silence, and scripture as we challenge one another to truly pray, “Thy Kingdom Come.”

As we journey together through four prayer stations centered around the A.C.T.S. model (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication), we encourage you to come with openness and vulnerability. Bring a heart ready to listen and a willingness to be led by the Holy Spirit as we lift up the name of our true King, Jesus Christ. Whether through moments of silence or communal prayer, we ask you to fully engage—even when it feels challenging or uncomfortable—trusting that God will meet you in that space.

Our hope is that through this time of prayer, you will experience God’s peace, joy, and hopefulness. No matter the outcome of tomorrow’s election, we can find our strength and certainty in Jesus Christ, who reigns supreme.

Station #2 - Confession
Station #3 - Thanksgiving
Station #4 - Supplication

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, as the election approaches, I seek Your wisdom, guidance, and peace. Amid the divisiveness and conflicting opinions, help me stay focused on You, remembering that my hope lies in You, not in political leaders or systems. As I prepare to vote, grant me discernment to understand the issues clearly and recognize candidates and policies that align with justice, righteousness, and compassion. Guide me to vote with a heart reflecting Your values—caring for the poor, seeking peace, and upholding truth. I ask for grace in my interactions, patience in listening, and love in my words, even when I disagree. I pray for all candidates to act with wisdom, integrity, and humility, prioritizing justice and the common good. Above all, I trust in Your sovereignty, knowing my identity is rooted in Your Kingdom. Let Your will be done, and may Your peace reign in my heart and this nation. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A-C-T-S Explained

The A.C.T.S. prayer model is a helpful framework for organizing prayers, guiding believers through different aspects of prayer. The acronym stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Each element represents a vital part of the prayer experience, encouraging a balanced approach to communicating with God. Here’s a breakdown of each component:

A - Adoration
Adoration involves praising God for who He is—His attributes, character, and majesty. It’s a time of worship and reverence, focusing on God’s greatness rather than asking for anything.

C - Confession
In this part of the prayer, we acknowledge our sins and shortcomings before God, asking for His forgiveness. It’s a time of reflection on personal faults and repentance, trusting in God’s grace.

T - Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is about expressing gratitude to God for His blessings, provision, and faithfulness. It’s a reminder to acknowledge all that God has done in our lives.

S - Supplication
Supplication refers to presenting our requests to God. It’s a time to ask for God’s help, guidance, healing, and provision for ourselves and others. This includes both personal needs and intercessions for others.

This structure helps maintain a balanced and thoughtful prayer life, ensuring that prayer is not just about asking for things, but also about worship, repentance, and gratitude.

Adoring God during the election season involves shifting focus from political chaos to His unchanging, sovereign nature. Start by acknowledging God’s sovereignty, recognizing that He is ultimately in control regardless of election outcomes, and express this through prayer. Praise His unchanging character, affirming that while political leaders may change, God’s faithfulness remains constant. Worship Him for His justice and righteousness, trusting that His perfect judgment will prevail over human decisions. Reflect on God’s eternal Kingdom, understanding that it transcends any earthly government. Celebrate His infinite wisdom, seeking clarity and peace in His understanding during confusing times. Acknowledge God’s mercy and grace, which can help foster compassion and understanding amid division. Thank God for His peace, allowing it to calm your heart in stressful moments. Finally, rest in His ultimate plan, trusting that His purposes will be fulfilled despite human efforts. By engaging in these practices, you elevate your heart above political turmoil, placing your trust in God’s eternal and sovereign rule.

Revelation 4:8-11

“And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, ‘Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!’ And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, ‘Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.’”

Psalm 150:1-6

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!”

Philippians 2:9-11

“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Reflection Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come before You in awe and reverence, acknowledging Your holiness and majesty. As the Creator of all things, the One who spoke the universe into existence, Your greatness is beyond comprehension. I adore You for Your infinite wisdom, love, and perfect plan, even when I cannot fully understand it. You know me intimately, having formed me, and I worship You for Your unfailing love and grace that renews every day. Your faithfulness and mercy are beyond measure. You are pure and righteous in all Your ways, and none can compare to Your beauty and glory. I humbly offer my life as a living sacrifice, desiring to glorify Your name. May my heart always sing Your
praise, and may my life reflect Your light in a world that needs You. I surrender fully to Your Lordship, loving and worshiping You now and forever. Amen.

Practicing confession during the election season involves acknowledging personal shortcomings and seeking God’s forgiveness amid political tension. It’s an opportunity to reflect on attitudes, words, and actions. Begin by confessing pride and self-righteousness, recognizing when you felt morally superior in your political opinions. Next, address anger and hostility that may have arisen towards those with differing views. Confess fear and anxiety about the future, and express a lack of love for others, particularly those with whom you
disagree. Acknowledge any idolatry of politics or leaders by admitting when you placed too much hope in them over God. Confess division and gossip, especially when conversations turned negative or divisive. Reflect on a lack of prayerfulness and the times you’ve neglected to pray for leaders and fellow citizens. Finally, confess distractions from God’s mission, recognizing when politics consumed your focus. By engaging in this process, you invite God to refine your heart, fostering compassion, humility, and a commitment to His Kingdom over earthly concerns.

1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Psalm 32:5

“I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,’ and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.”

James 5:16

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”

Proverbs 28:13

“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”

Reflection Prayer

Merciful Father, I come humbly before You, recognizing my shortcomings in the light of Your holiness. I confess that I have not fully loved You or others as You have called me to. I acknowledge my sins—both actions and inactions—born out of selfishness, haste, pride, anger, and fear. I ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing, trusting in Your mercy and faithfulness to forgive those who confess. Please renew my spirit and help me turn away from sin toward the righteous life You desire for me. I thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, through whom I am forgiven and restored. Your grace is greater than all my faults, and I rest in the assurance that my sins are removed far from me. Teach me to walk in Your ways, resist temptation, and follow Your path. May Your Holy Spirit guide me in truth each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Take a moment to consider and write out what you need to confess to God.

Practicing thanksgiving during the election season helps maintain a spirit of gratitude amidst political tension. Focus on God’s goodness, reminding yourself that His sovereignty transcends political outcomes. Begin by thanking God for His sovereignty, acknowledging that He is in control regardless of the election results. Express gratitude for the freedom to vote, appreciating the privilege to participate in shaping your community. Thank God for the peace that calms anxiety during turbulent times, and for leaders, even those you may not agree with, as they serve His purposes. Appreciate the opportunity to live out your faith by reflecting your values and promoting justice. Thank God for the unity believers share in Christ, reminding yourself that spiritual family outweighs political divisions. Acknowledge His perfect justice, shifting your focus from flawed human systems to God’s righteousness. Express gratitude for the chance to pray and trust in Him, knowing He hears you. Finally, reflect on God’s past faithfulness to cultivate present gratitude. By adopting a posture of thanksgiving, you can shift your focus from fear and frustration to a deep trust in God’s goodness, regardless of the political climate.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Colossians 2:6-7

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”

Isaiah 12:4

“And you will say in that day: ‘Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.’”

Reflection Prayer

Gracious and Loving God, I come with a heart full of gratitude, acknowledging the countless blessings You’ve given me. I thank You for Your constant presence, faithfulness, and for being the source of all good things. I’m grateful for the gift of life, the breath in my lungs, and the strength You provide each day. Thank You for Your provision, sustaining me in both abundance and scarcity. I also give thanks for the relationships that reflect Your love and support me on my journey. Above all, I thank You for Your unfailing love and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Your grace amazes me, and I am grateful for the forgiveness of my sins and the hope of eternal life. Even
in difficult times, I give thanks, knowing You work all things for good and that You guide me through every trial. Help me to live with a heart of gratitude in every circumstance, honoring You with my life. My heart overflows with praise and thanksgiving. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Bringing supplications to God during the election season involves seeking His guidance, wisdom, and intervention in the political process while trusting in His sovereignty. Begin by praying for wisdom and discernment for yourself and others as you navigate political discussions and decisions. Seek God’s peace and unity in a divided nation, asking for respectful dialogue among differing groups. Pray for
leaders and candidates, asking for their hearts to be guided by justice and integrity. Lift up the hearts of voters, seeking informed and compassionate choices, and ask God to protect the rights and freedoms that enable democratic participation. Request justice and righteousness, calling for God’s intervention in issues of inequality and corruption. Pray for personal conduct, asking for grace and love in heated discussions. Ultimately, submit your desires to God, trusting in His will and plan for the election. By engaging in these supplications, you deepen your connection with God and focus on spiritual truths amid political complexities.

I Timothy 2:1-4

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
